The advisor for KnightVision is Ruben Barron. This year is Mr. Barron's sixteenth year as a video technology and broadcast journalsim teacher at J.M. Hanks High School. He started the KnightVision broadcasting program in 1993.
Mr. Barron has sixteen years professional experience working in various El Paso, Texas, mediums. He started in broadcasting in 1976 as Music Director for KINT98 radio. Mr. Barron served in various positions at KINT98 including Promotions Director, Sports Reporter, Public Service Coordinator, and Assistant Operations Director. He also was Music Director and Program Director at KINT AM and KOL radio stations.
In 1980, Mr. Barron started a twelve-year career in television at KTSM TV Channel 9, the El Paso NBC affiliate. He began as a production assistant and sports videographer. After two years of performing all the production duties from camera person to audio operator to character generator operator, Mr. Barron became a director for the weekday prime-time six and ten o'clock newscasts.
Mr. Barron also worked two years as a high school sports stringer for the El Paso Herald Post. He reported and wrote stories about high school football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball.
